Is the supply of talents outweighing the demand in sg?
Of cos , i do not have the actual sentiments of other institutes but obviously, i feel and fear that in 5 to 10 yrs time, our young building blocks of the nations will be "seriously" devalued in the face of the surging challenge. Foreigners or locals alike, what I thought as a calibre A student with prospective scholarly upbringings here might not be able to stretch as fully as a equally-capable one in other countries cos of the limited opportunities that we have. Obviously, tis is a national problem and we couldnt lament much. But i guess, seriously, i feel that 35-40% of my own cohort would ve easily made it into any sector as a top performer. Yes..i wouldnt deny or abolish the fact that competition drives the quality of the people and perhaps, we ourselves are responsible or are the very own fuel behind the extremely challenging pace in the faculty.
To me, the aerospace faculty is well-positioned,perhaps by chance and sheer luck, in a centroid location between the engineering and the business world. We are very much trained to carry ourselves well in the face of gruelling interviews and design presentations, which perhaps has been much the effort of "committed" professors. Of course, with every peak comes a trough. At least for me, the technical aspects of the course in relation to machining are not well-conceived. Oh well....i dun wanna be the typical Singaporean who wans everything...AI pi Ai qi. Guess i am pretty contented now. Digressed for an entire paragraph.
Yar...what i do hope to see is that either the govt creates a larger pie by honing the various niche sectors or face that fact that talents are definitely gonna be drained to the likes of Dubai in the aviation sector or perhaps to fast developing nations like Brazil and South Africa. They nonetheless, lacks the talents which in this country, is seemingly worth like Aussie dollars..seriously devalued...haha
